This is the first time that an Indian national is heading HMIL since its inception 29 years ago. The company said the appointment is a testament to Hyundai Motor Group’s confidence in India’s leadership and the country’s growing strategic importance in the global automotive landscape.
Tarun Garg, MD & CEO - HMIL, said, “India’s automotive industry is at an exciting inflection point, driven by innovation, sustainability, and evolving customer aspirations.”
Under his stewardship, Hyundai intends to focus on accelerating its footprint in EVs, hybrids, connected mobility and through an investment of Rs 45,000 crore by FY 2030. The company also aims to enhance indigenization across HMIL plants and positioning HMIL as an export hub for emerging markets.
