Renault-Nissan suspends operations at Tamil Nadu plant till May 30
“We had talks with the management and they have taken a decision to shut down the factory from May 26-30 and resume operations on May 31,” Renault Nissan India Thozhilalar Sangam (Workers’ Union) president K Balaji Krishnan told ET.

In a letter to employees, Biju Balendran, managing director of Renault Nissan Automotive India, said the company was reviewing its “safety protocols and future safety measures”.
“We…continue to have a close and constructive dialogue with the union representatives so that together we can ensure the highest standards of safety are in place when the plant resumes operations,” he added.
This will include introducing additional measures as well as an audit on current procedures. “The management has also said they will review our demands and get back to us in the next few days,” said M Murthy, secretary of the workers’ union.
