Renault India resumes Sri Lanka exports with 100-vehicle shipment

Renault India has resumed vehicle exports to Sri Lanka, sending its first shipment of 100 vehicles from Chennai. The shipment includes the all-new Triber, Kwid and Kiger.

The move takes Renault’s international export footprint to 16 countries. The company has partnered with Sri Lankan automotive distributor AMW Motors for its return to the market.

The vehicles were manufactured at Renault India’s facility in Oragadam, Chennai. The plant supplies vehicles for both the domestic market and international destinations.


“The resumption of exports to Sri Lanka is an important step in our international growth journey. We see significant potential to expand the reach of vehicles engineered and manufactured in India, while strengthening India's role as an export base for Renault,” said Francisco Hidalgo, Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Renault India.

He said Renault would focus on building long-term markets through local partnerships and a product portfolio suited to customer needs.

Renault India also plans to expand its product range in Sri Lanka. The New Duster is among the models scheduled for introduction, the company said.

The expanded portfolio will allow Renault to enter more vehicle segments as it rebuilds its presence in Sri Lanka.

Renault India has exported nearly 2,00,000 vehicles from the country so far. Its international markets include South Africa, Saudi Arabia and several other countries.
