Maruti Suzuki’s sales drop 26.7% in September

NEW DELHI: The country’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki Tuesday reported a 26.7% decline selling 112,500 units in the domestic market in September.

While sales of mini cars Alto, WagonR, S-Presso dropped 42.6% to 20,085 units last month, those of compacts (New WagonR, Celerio, Ignis, Swift, DZire, Baleno) fell 22.7% to 57,179 units. Wholesale of midsize sedan Ciaz crashed 72.5% to 1715 units. Sales in the utility vehicle (Ertiga, XL6, Vitara Brezza, S-Cross) segment remained almost flat at 21,526 units. The company sold 9,949 units of vans Omni and Eeco during the month, which is a drop of 32% over the year ago period.


Maruti Suzuki sold 2046 units of light commercial vehicle Super Carry in September.
