New Delhi: The country’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki Tuesday said it will invest Rs 10,189 crore to set up the first assembly line at its fifth manufacturing facility in Khoraj Industrial Estate, Gujarat.

The first phase of the factory with capacity to produce 250,000 vehicles per annum is expected to be commissioned by 2029, subject to market conditions.

In a filing to the bourses, Maruti Suzuki said, the resources earmarked include “investment for the first phase of the car manufacturing plant having an annual manufacturing capacity of 250,000 units and some common infrastructure and facilities for future plants.” The investment will be made through internal accruals.


The company currently has the capacity to produce 2.4 million vehicles per annum.

The investment announced Tuesday is over and above the Rs 4,960 crore Maruti Suzuki has earmarked to acquire land at the Khoraj Industrial Estate in Gujarat.
