Maruti Suzuki sales down 0.7% in March

The country’s largest car maker Maruti Suzuki Monday said sales in the local market declined by 0.7% to 1,47,613 in March.

While sales of Alto and old WagonR dropped 55.1% to 16826 units, those of compact cars (New WagonR, Ignis, Celerio, Swift, Baleno and DZire) went up 19.8% to 82532 units. Sales of midsize sedan Ciaz declined 15% to 3672 units in the month under review. Those of utility vehicles grew 12.3% to 25563 units last month.

For the entire financial year (2018-19), the company’s sales rose 6.1% to 17,53,700 units.
