Maruti Suzuki reports zero sales in April due to lockdown

Lockdown has caused the closure of auto dealerships and plants across the country.

NEW DELHI : The country’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki reported zero sales last month with factories shut in compliance with government orders to prevent the check of the coronavirus pandemic.

“Maruti Suzuki India Limited had zero sales in the domestic market, (including sales to OEM), in April 2020”, the company said in a filing to the bourses, adding, “This was because in compliance with the Government orders all production facilities were closed.”

Meanwhile, following resumption of port operations, the first export shipment of 632 units was undertaken from the Mundra port, ensuring that all guidelines for safety were followed.
