The milestone was achieved within three years and five months of the Gujarat siding becoming operational in March 2023 and the Manesar siding in June 2025.

Maruti Suzuki said its Gujarat and Manesar in-plant railway sidings accounted for 70 per cent of its total rail-based vehicle dispatches in FY 2026-27 up to August 31.

In the current financial year through August 31, Maruti Suzuki’s rail-based vehicle dispatches have crossed 3 lakh vehicles.

“Reaching one million cumulative vehicle dispatches through our in-plant railway sidings marks a landmark achievement in our green logistics journey. Our mid-term goal is to increase rail-based vehicle dispatches to 35% by FY 2030-31 through continued investment in rail infrastructure, including an in-plant siding at our new Kharkhoda facility. This will improve the efficiency of our sustainable logistics network and support India’s Net Zero ambitions.” Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director & CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Limited said.

The facility at Hansalpur, Gujarat, was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in March 2024 as part of the GatiShakti program. Following this, the company also launched a larger automobile in-plant railway siding at its Manesar facility in June 2025.

Over the past decade, Maruti Suzuki India said it has systematically scaled up the share of rail in outbound logistics from per cent in 2014-15 to 26.5 per cent in FY 2025-26.
