New Delhi: Car market leader Maruti Suzuki India Ltd is aiming for 25-30 per cent growth in its SUV sales this fiscal on the back of new launch and traction from existing models, a senior company official said on Friday.

The company, which launched the new version of its SUV Brezza at an introductory price starting at Rs 7.4 lakh, also expects the SUV's contribution to overall sales to grow, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (MSIL) Senior Executive Officer, Marketing & Sales, Partho Banerjee told.

"This year in SUVs we are planning to grow by at least 25-30 per cent," he said when asked about how the new Brezza could help in increasing sales.


From about 5.5 lakh units of SUVs sold last year, the company is aiming for about 7 lakh units this fiscal, Banerjee said.

In terms of SUV penetration in total sales, he said, "It is expected to increase although other segments of products in our portfolio are also growing..

"In fiscal 2022-23 our SUV share was 12 per cent. Today, (as of Q1FY27) we are at 30 per cent of total sales." In the first quarter of FY27, MSIL sold a total of 6,82,724 units as compared to 5,27,861 units in the year-ago period.

Sales of the company's utility vehicles, comprising models Brezza, Ertiga, e Vitara, Fronx, Grand Vitara, Invicto, Jimny, Victoris and XL6, in Q1FY27 were at 2,18,885 units as against 1,61,868 units in the same period last fiscal.
