Kobelco to expand manufacturing unit in Sri City

CHENNAI: Kobelco Cranes India, the Indian arm of Japanese crane manufacturer Kobelco Cranes, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for expanding its existing production unit at Sri City, an integrated township near Chennai.

The facility opened in Feb 2012 across 10 acres and Kobelco will now be an buying additional 10 acres to expand the manufacturing unit. The expansion will create job opportunities for more than 100 people, a company statement said.

As of now, 100 companies from 25 countries have invested in Sri City, including companies in the automotive, locomotives, electronics, engineering, pharmaceuticals, warehousing, food processing, Information Technology and FMCG sectors.
