Jaguar Land Rover Q3: Tata Motor's luxury arm achieves highest wholesales in 11 quarters; order book declines

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), Tata Motor's luxury arm, on Monday reported a 27 per cent rise in total wholesales at 1,01,043 units for the third quarter ending on December 31, 2023, as compared to the year-ago period. The official statement of the auto giant has shown that JLR has delivered the highest wholesales in 11 quarters during the period.

Wholesale volumes for Range Rover Sport went up by 49 per cent for this quarter to 16,921, Range Rover reported a growth of 12 per cent to 18,843, and Defender volumes went up by 14 per cent to 27,117 when compared to the quarter ending 31 December 2022.

Despite reporting growth, the company has observed a decline in its order book for this quarter with 1.48 lakh client orders at the end of the third quarter as compared to 1.68 lakh clients at the end of the second quarter.


JLR's top cars, Range Rover, Range Rover Sport and Defender, continued to make up the most of the order book again for the automaker. For the third quarter, the three cars represented 76 per cent of the order book.

When it comes to retail sales, Tata Motor's arm recorded a rise of 29 per cent for the third quarter t0 1,09,140 units (including the Chery Jaguar Land Rover China JV) to the same quarter a year ago and up two per cent compared to the quarter ended 30 September 2023.
