Indian ‍automaker Mahindra & Mahindra reported a 23% ⁠rise in the December sales of ‌its sports utility ‌vehicles (SUV) to dealers ‌on Thursday, fuelled by a sustained rise in demand following tax reductions.

In September, India cut the ‌tax ‍on SUVs ‍with engines above 1500 cc to ‌40% from about 50% to boost demand, a change that applies to most ‍of Mahindra's SUV range.

Market leader ‍Maruti ⁠Suzuki, ⁠along with Hyundai India and Tata Motors, are yet to report their sales figures.
