Hyundai Venue gets smarter against car theft with a remote immobiliser controlled by your phone

Hyundai Motor India on Friday introduced a remote immobiliser for select Venue and Venue N Line variants that allows owners to prevent their parked vehicle from restarting through the Bluelink app, adding a new layer of protection against theft, including cases involving key cloning.

The Hyundai Bluelink Remote Immobiliser is available on connected-car-Navigation-Cockpit (ccNC)-equipped HX10 and N10 variants of the Venue and Venue N Line, respectively. Eligible vehicles sold since November 2025 will receive the feature remotely through a Controller Over-the-Air (C-OTA) update, without requiring a workshop visit.

From September 2026, the feature is being offered as standard on ccNC-equipped Venue HX10 and Venue N Line N10 variants. Hyundai also plans to roll it out in phases to select existing Bluelink-equipped models and upcoming connected vehicles.


Owners can activate the immobiliser through the Bluelink app while the vehicle is parked, after which it cannot be restarted without authorisation. If theft is suspected and the feature was not activated beforehand, owners can switch it on remotely through the app. In that case, once the vehicle is switched off, it cannot be restarted.

For safety reasons, the feature cannot stop or switch off a vehicle while it is moving.

Bluelink's live-location tracking can also help owners and law enforcement authorities locate a vehicle, provided it remains connected to the network. Hyundai said the immobiliser and location-tracking functions are subject to conditions including uninterrupted vehicle power, untampered wiring and network connectivity.

Through a seamless Controller Over-the-Air update, we are introducing an important new capability to eligible model variants without requiring customers to visit a workshop,” Hyundai Motor India MD and CEO Tarun Garg said.

The rollout uses the software-defined vehicle architecture of the Venue and Venue N Line. C-OTA technology allows Hyundai to wirelessly update software controlling different vehicle functions instead of requiring customers to take their cars to a workshop.

Hyundai said compatible variants can receive C-OTA updates across up to 19 vehicle controllers, allowing the automaker to remotely introduce new features, enhancements and software updates to vehicles already sold.

The remote immobiliser is currently available on the Hyundai Ioniq 5 as well as the eligible Venue and Venue N Line variants.

Hyundai's Bluelink connected-car platform currently powers more than eight lakh vehicles in India and is available across 11 of the company's 15 models. Depending on the model, it offers more than 70 connected features, including SOS and emergency assistance, automatic crash notifications, remote vehicle status, Hyundai Pay, Digital Key and vehicle-location functions.

Some Bluelink-equipped models also support up to 492 AI-powered voice commands and multilingual interfaces in their digital cluster and infotainment systems, with the exact features varying by model.
