Tarun Garg, MD and CEO of Hyundai Motor India, said the company continued to sustain strong growth momentum in FY2027, with domestic sales growing by 12.6 per cent year-on-year during the April-August period.
"Our August domestic sales of 54,396 units (23.6 per cent growth YoY), the highest-ever figure for any August month, reflect the popularity of Hyundai's versatile product portfolio," Garg said.
He further said that while total exports in August were impacted by logistical constraints arising from the ongoing conflict in West Asia and the broader geopolitical environment during the month, the company remains optimistic that export demand will continue to be strong in the coming months as the geopolitical situation improves.
Exports under pressure since Q1
Hyundai's exports have been under strain since the first quarter of the current fiscal, when shipments fell 19.6 per cent to 38,708 units, compared with 48,140 units in the same period last year. The company had attributed the decline to the West Asia conflict as well as a temporary production disruption caused by a fire at the facility of one of its suppliers, Mobis.
Earlier this month, Garg had said Hyundai expected export volumes to recover from the second quarter of FY27, citing a healthy order backlog across key markets and continued demand, even as the company maintained its full-year growth guidance of 8 to 10 per cent.
The company's July sales had touched a record 75,360 units, its highest-ever monthly volume since inception, with exports that month rising 31.4 per cent year-on-year to 21,150 units, the highest in over 100 months.
