New Delhi: Hyundai Motor India is banking on the new-generation of the Creta and a range of other SUVs priced from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 25 lakh, which will be launched in the coming years, to nudge ahead of Maruti Suzuki and Mahindra & Mahindra in the utility vehicles space.

The local unit of the Korean automaker, which in the past year has entered the sub-4 metre SUV space with the Venue, will now reinforce its mid-size SUV segment with the new Tucson and the all-new Creta this calendar year. Both these will be showcased at the Auto Expo in Greater Noida in the coming days.

This may be followed by a seven-seater Creta-based SUV and a micro-SUV rivalling the Mahindra KUV100 and the upcoming Tata H2X or Hornbill, in the following two years.

In fact, the company had briefly achieved the leadership position in the SUV segment.
