Honda reveals the hatchback version of the fifth-generation City with a turbo-petrol

A City hatchback
Honda has revealed the hatchback version of the fifth-generation City for the South East Asian markets. The City hatchback is based on the same platform as the City sedan that is currently on sale in India. The car measures 4,349 mm in length, 1,748 mm in width, 1,488 mm in height and its wheelbase is 2,589 mm.

Heart of the matter
Under the hood of the new City Hatchback is a 1.0L 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine which has been tuned to deliver 122 PS of maximum power at 5,500 rpm and 173 Nm of peak torque from 2,000 to 4,500 rpm. For the transmission, Honda has gone ahead with a CVT unit.

Sharing parts
The interior of the City Hatchback is also similar to that of the Sedan. The cabin has an all-black theme for a sporty feel. There’s an 8-in touchscreen infotainment system, USB ports, paddle shifters, cruise control, and Honda Connect telematics. Honda's innovative rear seats have also been added which can be folded in different ways depending on the storage needs.

RS theme
Up to the C-pillar, the car looks similar to the sedan. However, the rear fascia is completely new and features new tail lights and bumper. The RS variant gets gloss black trim on the grille with LED headlights and a sportier front bumper. It also has black ORVMs and 16-inch alloy wheels finished in dark chrome.

Replacing the Jazz
The City hatchback will replace the third generation Jazz in select markets including Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia. The car will also be sold in South American markets.
