In an advisory to customers and dealers, M&M said that its vehicles can be operated safely with E20 fuel. For those produced after April 1, 2025, the company has specially calibrated them to ensure acceleration and fuel efficiency with E20.
"Mahindra engines are fully compliant with existing gasoline standards and all our vehicles can be operated safely with E20 fuel. Vehicles produced post April 1, 2025 are specially calibrated for E20 fuel to ensure acceleration and fuel efficiency," the SUV-maker said in a statement.
For the earlier produced vehicles, the automaker said that "whilst being completely safe to drive, could see a minor variation in either acceleration or fuel efficiency depending on driving behaviour."
In view of minor variation in either acceleration or fuel efficiency, Mahindra has promised to honour all warranty commitments to its customers on account of E20 fuel usage in its vehicles.
"Mahindra has always been at the forefront of supporting and embracing government initiatives surrounding alternative fuels, especially biofuels, whenever mandated," the company said.
Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO of Mahindra's automotive division, at an industry body conference on Thursday, said that the fuel blended with 20% ethanol is safe to use, adding that the company is drafting an advisory on the E20 blended fuel, which should reach customers soon.
