After months of decline, PV sales showing uptick

After a lacklustre festive season, retail demand for passenger vehicle picked up the past two weeks, buoying expectations that the industry will revert to a positive growth trajectory soon.

Passenger vehicle registrations declined by 2% to 1.9 million units between April and December 2018, according to data available with Federation of Automobile Dealers Association (FADA).

Retail sales of two-wheelers increased by 5% to 11 million units in the same period.

After a lacklustre festive season, retail demand for passenger vehicle picked up the past two weeks, buoying expectations that the industry will revert to a positive growth trajectory soon.


FADA President Ashish Kale said, “With fuel prices coming down, consumer sentiments have started improving. We have seen better than expected traffic last two weeks at showrooms and hope to close the year on a positive note as far as passenger vehicle sales are concerned.”
