Sensex, Nifty trade flat; PNB up 6%
The markets largely remained flat in the afternoon trade after the steep sell-off. The 30-share BSE Sensex gained 16.00 points at 27571.34 and the 50-share NSE Nifty rose 12.20 points to 8372.90. Punjab National Bank (PNB) shares surged after the public sector lender reported an improvement in its asset quality in the June quarter.
