Covid-19: Airtel offers free access to e-books on Juggernaut

Airtel today said it has enabled free access to book titles, spread across a wide range of genres, on its e-book platform -- Juggernaut books (formerly Airtel Books) for all its customers.

2016 was an indelible year for the telecom industry as it marked Mukesh Ambani led Jio’s foray into the sector which led to industry revenue getting caught in a downward spiral as old players’(Vodafone, Idea, Bharti Airtel) saw their profits and subscriber bases dwindling rapidly. The erstwhile flourished industry narrowed to a handful of players with 2019 opening up new challenging frontiers for the sector. NEW DELHI: Airtel today said it has enabled free access to book titles, spread across a wide range of genres, on its e-book platform -- Juggernaut books (formerly Airtel Books) for all its customers.

Airtel had acquired a strategic stake in Juggernaut in 2017 with the commitment of expanding the reach of the growing digital platform.

Juggernaut Books offers e-books and novels across a wide range of genres. All titles can be accessed by downloading the app (Android/iOS) on their smartphones.


Airtel’s decision comes in the backdrop of the COVID-19 or coronavirus pandemic as the Government attempts to control the spread of COVID-19.

Adarsh Nair, Chief Product Officer, Bharti Airtel, said that Airtel and Juggernaut are working together to ensure people have more options to keep themselves engaged as they observe social distancing.

He added that Airtel and Juggernaut will be jointly working together to bring ‘exciting digital content’ to their customers across platforms.

Adds Chiki Sarkar, Co-Founder, Juggernaut Books said Juggernaut has been set up to bring ‘new kind of readers’ and ‘new kind of reading’ together, on one platform.

He added that Juggernaut ‘strongly felt the need to do something original and imaginative for the current situation as more and more people spend more time on their smartphone, amid the country-wide lockdown.
