Dussehra City-Wise Panchang 2026: Puja Muhurat and Ravana Dahan Timings

Dussehra, also known as Vijayadashami, will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, in much of India. The festival marks the victory of good over evil and is associated with Lord Rama's victory over Ravana and Goddess Durga's triumph over Mahishasura. Devotees observe the occasion through prayers, traditional rituals, Ramlila performances and the burning of Ravana's effigies.

However, the festival calendar can differ by region. While many parts of India will observe Dussehra on October 20, Bengali Vijayadashami will fall on October 21, when devotees mark the conclusion of Durga Puja with farewell rituals and the immersion of Goddess Durga's idols.

The auspicious time for Vijayadashami puja also varies from city to city because Panchang calculations depend on local sunrise and other astronomical factors. Here is a guide to the important dates and timings for Dussehra 2026.

Ravana Dahan 2026: When Will Ravana Be Burned?

Ravana Dahan is one of the most widely recognised Dussehra traditions in northern and central India. Large effigies of Ravana, often accompanied by those of Meghnad and Kumbhakarna, are burned during public celebrations following Ramlila performances. In New Delhi, sunset on October 20 is expected at around 5:47 PM. Ravana Dahan events generally take place after sunset, but the exact start time depends on the organising committee, venue, Ramlila schedule and local arrangements.

There is no single fixed Ravana Dahan time for every Indian city. People planning to attend celebrations should check announcements from their local Ramlila committees, municipal authorities or event organisers rather than relying only on the Panchang.
