'Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar' enters Rs 200 cr club, joins the likes of 'Pathaan' & 'Brahmastra'

Bollywood stars Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor-led romantic comedy 'Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar' entered the Rs 200 crore club on Wednesday.

Production house Luv Films took to Twitter to share an update on the same. "'Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar' crosses a love worth more than 200 Crore! Thank you for your immense support," the tweet read.



The movie collected a whopping Rs 161 crore (gross) and Rs 130.47 crore (nett) in India. The overseas collection stood at 40 crore (gross), taking the total to Rs 201 crore, globally.

On its opening day, the film minted Rs 15.73 crore in the domestic market. With good response from mass pockets, the movie has a strong opening weekend of Rs 53.16 crore.

Film trade analyst Sumit Kadel declared it a "clean hit."


According to Kadel, 'Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar' emerged as director Luv Ranjan's highest worldwide grosser, beating the collection of his last project 'Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety' which was Rs 148 crore (gross).

Another trade analyst Nishit Shaw - also the founder of Burlington Chocolate - said that 'Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar' is the eighth Bollywood film to cross the Rs 200 crore mark (gross) worldwide post-pandemic.

The other films that made the list (in order of their performance) are 'Pathaan', 'Drishyam 2', 'Brahmastra: Shiva - Part One', 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2', 'The Kashmir Files', 'Gangubai Kathiawadi' and 'Sooryavanshi'.

Helmed by Rajan, the film also stars Dimple Kapadia, Boney Kapoor and stand-up comedian Anubhav Singh Bassi in pivotal roles.

The film marked the first on-screen collaboration between Ranbir and Shraddha. Produced by Ranjan and Ankur Garg's Luv Films, it is being presented by Gulshan Kumar and Bhushan Kumar of T- Series.
