Nagaenthran K Dharmalingam's death penalty

After declaring the death penalty "a big stain on Singapore's prestige" and condemning Nagaenthran K Dharmalingam's execution earlier this year, the ministry of home affairs requested Branson to debate it live on television.

Campaigners claim that Singapore, which has some of the strictest drug laws in the world, sparked outrage in April when it murdered Nagaenthran. He was a Malaysian man with a cognitive handicap. He had been on death row for over a decade, trying to sneak 42.72g of heroin into Singapore.
