UK Minister Lucy Frazer talks about 40 new hospitals on chat show. Check audience's reaction
During her appearance on Question Time, Tory MP Lucy Frazer received disbelief and laughter after claiming her government built "40 new hospitals".

When asked how her government planned to address the National Health Service (NHS) and social care crises, she stated that the government has dedicated funds to diagnostic centres and built 40 new hospitals.
Julia Hartley, the host of TalkTV Brewer, immediately cut Frazer off to declare that there are no new hospitals. Fiona Bruce, the host of Question Time, also commented on the statement.
"There is a commitment to build 40 new hospitals," Frazer clarified, drawing chuckles from the gathering.
Labour MP David Lammy slammed the minister for her remarks. He claimed that the administration could not cut local government spending by up to 40% and expect people to remain hospitalized. Because they have nowhere to go, there is a social care catastrophe.
To the audience's applause, Lammy explained that he was just outraged "on behalf of his constituents."
The promise by the Conservatives to construct 40 new hospitals was initially featured in Boris Johnson's 2019 election manifesto.
However, it has been criticized in the past for categorizing new hospital wings or extensive renovations as "new" hospitals.
According to a study conducted by the health think tank Nuffield Trust, most of the government's initiatives include rehabilitating existing hospitals, with only three new facilities included in the plans.
