Rishi Sunak gets rid of Liz Truss’s signature twisted wooden lectern
Newly elected British PM Rishi Sunak replaced the twisted wooden lectern with a simple one. He’s the first Hindu PM of the UK.

Prime Ministers have long used a customised lectern to deliver speeches outside 10 Downing Street. Most PMs have used a uniquely designed podium to showcase their own style. Truss used the twisted lectern to deliver her first address after being selected as PM, beating Sunak in the race. She came into power after former PM Boris Johnson resigned from office in July.
Political analyst Arieh Kovler posted the "first look" of Sunak’s lectern. The wooden podium appeared to have a simple design with a light brown shade. Following his meeting with King Charles III, Sunak demanded the resignation of most of the ministers from Liz Truss’s cabinet.

Truss had to fire Kwarteng and bring in Jeremy Hunt for damage control, which wasn’t enough. Eventually, Truss had to resign on October 20, with only 44 days in office, becoming the UK's shortest-serving premier.
