Sanjay Dutt roars with an evil laugh, Ranbir Kapoor leads a revolt in the visceral & raw teaser of ‘Shamshera’

The teaser of Ranbir Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt starrer ‘Shamshera’ is out and if the 1-minute-and-10-seconds long clip is any indication, this Karan Malhotra film promises to immerse Indian audiences into a visceral and larger-than-life plot about a tribe’s revolt against the British empire.

Leading the revolt with his mad hair and chutzpah is Ranbir Kapoor’s character, while Dutt seems to be essaying the role of a British stooge, wearing a khaki uniform.

The film's central theme includes a fight for freedom, as the dacoit community goes to extreme lengths under the leadership of Shamshera to show dissent against the British raj. The teaser shows snippets of the rustic and barren background against which the film is set. There are glimpses of gory battles,and the teaser ends with Kapoor ferociously axing down a British officer.


Sanjay Dutt posted the video of the teaser on his social media profiles and wrote, "A tribe that needs saving, a world that needs SHAMSHERA." The post also added that the trailer of the film will be released in Hindi and Telugu too.

The film is set in a city of Kaza where the inhabitants are ruled by a ruthless general Shudh Singh who enslaves and tortures them. The story is about the man Shamshera who leads the tribe to freedom after living a life of slavery and bondage.

The film is set to release in theatres on the 22nd of July 2022.

Directed by Karan Malhotra and produced by Yash Raj Films, this film has a mega star cast that includes Paresh Rawal, Vani Kapoor and Jim Sarbh. Kapoor will be seen on screen after a hiatus of four years in ‘Shamshera’.
