CBI files graft case against Babul Supriyo's ex-staff, others

Babul Supriyo served as the minister in the Modi government from July 2016 to May 2019. The FIR filed by CBI alleges that executives of Engineering Projects India Ltd (EPIL) in cahoots with Mallick were involved in corruption.

The CBI has booked Sushanta Mallick, a former staff member of the then Union minister of state for heavy industries and public enterprises Babul Supriyo, who joined the Trinamool Congress after quitting BJP. Mallick and five others have been booked on graft charges.

Supriyo served as the minister in the Modi government from July 2016 to May 2019. The FIR filed by CBI alleges that executives of Engineering Projects India Ltd (EPIL) in cahoots with Mallick were involved in corruption.

The FIR alleges that the then executives of EPIL conspired and demanded an illegal gratification of "₹50 lakh from an individual (Ashutosh Bandhopadhayay) for providing undue favour for the tenders awarded and being awarded by EPIL during the period 2016-17".
