Every rupee in my foundation waiting to save a life: Sonu Sood

Actor Sonu Sood said on Monday that all proceeds to his foundation will be used for saving lives and helping the needy. The statement comes days after income-tax authorities conducted searches at his premises.

Sood said he has also encouraged brands to donate to his foundation to fund its humanitarian efforts.

In a statement on Twitter, the actor said he had been entertaining "some guests" the past four days but was now back to serving the people. "You don't always have to tell your side of the story. Time will," he said.


"Every rupee in my foundation is awaiting its turn to save a precious life and reach the needy. In addition, on many occasions, I have encouraged brands to donate my endorsement fees for humanitarian causes too, which keeps us going," he said.

On Saturday, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) said income-tax authorities had unearthed bogus contracts and dubious circular transactions of more than ₹200 crore during a search and seizure operation at various premises of a prominent actor.

The board said tax evasion of ₹20 crore was found.
