Mamata Banerjee to decide on my role soon: Babul Supriyo

After a closed-door meeting with Trinamool Supremo Mamata Banerjee at the state secretariat Nabanna on Monday, former Union Minister Babul Supriyo said he is eagerly waiting to work in Bengal and his role will be decided by Mamata Banerjee soon and emphasized that “he will be able to work freely now”.

Calling his conversation with Mamata Banerjee ‘musical’, Supriyo said, “I am very happy with the affection and warmth, she welcomed me to the Trinamool family. She urged me to work hard and also sing during Durga Pujas. We had a very musical talk. I am waiting for my role in the party which will be decided by Mamata Banerjee. I am very happy that the West Bengal CM is keeping faith in me. My role will be decided by Didi. I will be able to work feely now.”

“We discussed many other topics including music. She told me to sing in Durga Puja,” Supriyo said, after her meeting with Mamata Banerjee. Trinamool National general secretary Abhisek Banerjee and Rajya Sabha MP Derek O'brien also attended the meeting.


“I have sought time from the Speaker today. I will submit my resignation as MP to the Speaker on Wednesday in New Delhi. I have already written a letter and given up my security,” Supriyo said, who joined Trinamool Congress on Saturday.

“I have met her several times before and we share a cordial relationship. The last meeting was at Victoria Memorial during the anniversary of Netaji Subhas Bose, where she sat beside me, and was enquiring about the musical instruments being played on the stage. She has great interest in music,” he said.
