Harsh Mariwala wins EY Entrepreneur of the year 2020 award

Harsh C. Mariwala, Chairman of Mumbai headquartered consumer goods company Marico, on Thursday won EY Entrepreneur of the year award.

Mariwala, and will now represent India at the EY World Entrepreneur of the Year Award (WEOY) on 10 June 2021.

Awards were also announced for eight other categories with the winners representing both mature industries and young entrepreneurs from startups including Unicorns and a Decacorn.


Prathap Chandra Reddy, founder and executive chairman, Apollo Hospitals was felicitated with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Suresh Narayanan, chairman and managing director, Nestle India won the Entrepreneurial CEO award and Byju Raveendran, founder and chief executive officer, Think & Learn Pvt. Ltd. (BYJU’S) won the business transformation award.

Peyush Bansal, founder and chief executive officer, Lenskart Solutions won the start-up award, Deepak Mehta, chairman and managing director, Deepak Nitrite won the award in manufacturing category and Dinesh Agarwal, chief executive officer and managing director, IndiaMART InterMESH Ltd. (Indiamart) won the EY award in the services category.

Speaking as a keynote speaker at the award Mukesh Ambani, said, “Today, India is surging ahead as an economic power, as a democratic power, as a diplomatic and strategic power, as a cultural power and also a digital and technology power. And the key driving force for India’s rise will be our entrepreneurs, who are inventing new things every day that can transform India and the world, who are disruptive and hungry for success.”

The other categories saw Sushil Kumar Agarwal, managing director and chief executive officer, Aavas Financiers win in financial services category, Darshan Patel, chairman and managing director, Vini cosmetics take home the award in consumer products and retail category and Ameera Shah, managing director, Metropolis Healthcare win in life sciences and healthcare category.
