Mumbai: Apple cofounder and Silicon Valley icon Steve Wozniak will be addressing a special event on November 6 to announce the winners of the ET Innovation Awards 2020. Now in its second year, this is India’s largest celebration of enterprise, seeking to identify and showcase the best innovations that are driving growth in the areas of business, products, technology, social impact etc.

Winners in nine categories will be unveiled, chosen from more than 1,250 nominations made by about 950 companies.

Wozniak will also engage with industry chieftains including Sanjiv Bajaj, chairman and MD, Bajaj Finserv; Gopal Vittal, MD and CEO, Bharti Airtel, India and South Asia; and Sindhu Gangadharan, senior vice president and MD, SAP Labs India.


For more than four decades, Wozniak has been involved in various business and philanthropic ventures, focusing primarily on computer capabilities in schools and stressing hands-on, experiential learning that encourages creativity and innovation by students. He still continues with his entrepreneurial journey, having cofounded education and block chain technology firms Woz U and Efforce recently.

The ET Innovation Awards was conceived as an effort to celebrate and nurture innovation, which is so essential to power the economy toward the $5 trillion mark.

In the economic aftermath of the global Covid-19 crisis, innovation has become even more crucial in the world’s economic recovery.

A senior team led by knowledge partner Bain & Co. rigorously screened and evaluated the 1,250 nominations. The winners were selected by a high-profile jury led by former Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) vice chairman S Ramadorai. The other members were Dilip Shanghvi, MD, Sun Pharma; Pawan Goenka, MD, Mahindra and Mahindra; Vani Kola, MD, Kalaari Capital; Vidya Shah, CEO, EdelGive Foundation; and Milind Atrey, professor, IIT-Bombay.
