Needless to say, all of us need and deserve a Sonu Sood in our lives.
Coronavirus has brought with it tough times and challenges that have taken a toll on the general well-being of people around the world.

In the Indian subcontinent, however, it was Sonu Sood, who, despite essaying the role of the anti-hero on the silver screen, emerged as a much-revered, highly-celebrated real-life hero whose rescue missions will be remembered for years to come.

When the 21-day nation-wide lockdown was imposed in India on March 24, several migrant labourers were stuck in different parts of the country and started journey to their hometown on foot, sans food and water. That is when Sood, the knight-in-shining-armour, who appeared like a god-sent angel to those in crisis, emerged, arranged buses for migrants and helped them reunite with their families.

And the rest, as they say, is history.

Not only did Sood rescue countless migrants stuck thousands of kilometers away from their homes, he also played the role of a good samaritan on multiple occasions. Be it gifting a tractor to a poor Andhra family ploughing their fields manually, helping a techie selling vegetables land a job or helping warrior Aaji, the skillful stunt woman from Pune open her training school, Sood emerged a messiah in the public eye.

From rescuing 200 Odia girls stuck in Kerala to arranging an Air India flight for migrants stuck in Assam in the wake of cyclone Nisarga, Sood rescued thousands of people, so much so, that people started comparing him to late Sushma Swaraj, known for helping Indians stuck in difficult situations.

His efforts, however, weren’t limited to the Indian soil. In July, Sood arranged a special flight to rescue students stuck in Kyrgyzstan and arranged chartered flights for their return to India.

The actor, besides doing social work, also has a flair for writing. His debut book, which remains untitled, will hit the bookshelves under the aegis of Ebury Publishing and Vintage Publishing, Penguin Random House and will document his rescue missions.

An actor, social worker, philanthropist, author and a full-time messiah, Sood has done what the people in power failed to do - help those in crisis.

Needless to say, all of us need and deserve a Sonu Sood in our lives.

More power to him and his tribe.
