They are at the top of their game and are credited with creating businesses of great value. Arvind Ltd’s Sanjay Lalbhai, Biocon’s Kiran Mazumdar Shaw and businessman Sanjiv Goenka, who spearheads the eponymous Kolkata-based group, shared some words of wisdom for aspiring entrepreneurs.

Sanjay Lalbhai says its important to pursue what one is passionate about in life. “You need to pursue what you’re passionate about in life. The most rewarding thing you can do for yourself is to do something by which you can make an impact on somebody else’s life or address an issue facing your country or the world, while at the same time rewarding the shareholders of your business.”
“To believe in oneself; to pursue one’s dream passionately; to stay transparent. Don’t pay heed to the vanity or the ego of being an owner. Think of yourself as a manager. The moment you do that, you’ll be alright...Work hard to earn yourself both position and respect.”
“I think that there are many more opportunities for women today than there were when I started out. While the avenues are many, I believe the one thing that has not changed from the time that I started is the recipe for success. If you want to succeed, you should pursue your dreams with a deep sense of purpose. Courage of conviction and perseverance when faced with disappointment and failure are essential through any journey of endurance.”

“I am a passionate football fan and a big supporter of FC Bayern Munich. I used to follow all their matches and have even travelled across Europe to see them play in big cities like Barcelona, Madrid, Lisbon, etc. But work has kept me very busy and I have been missing out on a few games. So, I have to catch up on that, even if it’s a screening. Apart from that, I would love to play more ball sports, especially tennis. It’s a great feeling to be out on the court and to be more active.
