Indra Nooyi may have stepped down as CEO of PepsiCo in 2018 but life hasn’t slowed down for the honcho in the two years since. During a recent fireside chat, Nooyi joked that her retirement was solely “a retirement from quarterly earnings”.

“As CEO, you were a prisoner of the quarterly earnings because you had to deliver. Everything you did was around the quarterly earnings,” she said. “Now that I am retired, I can put whatever pressure I want on myself, but I’m not a prisoner [anymore]. I can pick and choose what I want to do.”

“The unfortunate thing is that I’m over-committed, because I just didn’t know how to say no. So I’ve gotten involved in too many things and my resolution for 2020 is to learn to say no, to not take on anything new,” said Nooyi.
