Two days after the 2019 ICC World Cup concluded with Team England's first-ever victory, Twitter was stormed with angry tweets about the 'boundary rule' that gave the winning team an edge over runners-up Team New Zealand. On Sunday, the 50-over match ended in a tie at Lord's, resulting in a Super Over. The Super Over, too, ended in a tie. However, the winners title was awarded to Team England on grounds of the number of boundaries they scored. This left fans debating over the baffling ICC rules which crowned the champions. Bollywood stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Shahid Kapoor and even director Anurag Kashyap expressed their views on the micro-blogging platform.

Bachchan mocked the criteria by saying, "You have Rs 2,000, I have Rs 2,000. You have one note of 2,000; I have four notes of 500. Who is richer? ICC: The one who has four notes of 500 is richer."

Actor-turned-politician Paresh Rawal referred to a controversy which took place in the beginning of the World Cup regarding former Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni's army insignia gloves.

The 'Kabir Singh' actor revealed that he was not in favour of any team. However, he felt bad to see the Kiwis lose because of an 'absurd rule'.

“This World Cup should have been shared. If England got more boundaries. New Zealand took more wickets. So the criteria is absurd. All 22 of those boys gave their everything and no one was lesser. Then why do only 11 get to feel like they were the best,” he wrote.

The 'Manmarziyaan' director mentioned that there is a 'serious' problem with ICC rules and said that a second Super Over should have been conducted.

Rohit Sharma, seemed to second Kashyap's idea of reviewing ICC rules.

Former cricketer Gautam Gambhir, Brett Lee and Yuvraj Singh also criticised the ICC for their boundary rule.
