Hours after violence were reported from West Bengal's Asansol constituency, where voting is taking place under fourth phase of Lok Sabha elections, TMC candidate from the constituency, Moon Moon Sen today said that she was unaware of any violence in the constituency because she woke up late.

"They gave me my bed tea very late, so I woke up very late. What can I say? I really don't know," Moon Moon Sen said after a reporter sought her response over the clashes between the BJP and TMC workers.

Union Minister and BJP candidate Babul Supriyo's car was vandalised early morning just after the start of polling in Asansol. Babul Supriyo alleged that Trinamool workers were taking over booths and not allowing people to vote.

Supriyo, the sitting MP of Asansol, has been re-nominated by the BJP, where he is pitted against the Trinamool Congress' actor-turned-politician Moon Moon Sen.

In a surprise victory, Sen had defeated the CPI(M) strongman Basudeb Acharia from Bankura in 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
