The two airline moguls have also dipped their fingers in Formula One, with each owning a team in the 2010 season. After Branson’s team finished behind the Air Asia CEO’s, Branson had to honour a bet they made. Donning red lipstick, a flight attendant’s skirt and high heels, the maverick businessman served drinks and played the perfect host on an AirAsia X flight from Perth to Kuala Lumpur.
Verdict: Full marks to Branson for pulling off the bet with aplomb. He even made announcements and chatted with fliers.

Elon Musk and Mike Cannon-Brookes

ET's dualpane (2)
On the left is Elon Musk and on the right is Mike Cannon-Brookes.

In March last year, the Tesla co-founder made a bet on Twitter with CannonBrookes, the co-founder of Atlassian, that he would be able to install the world’s largest lithium-ion battery in Australia within 100 days, or he would supply it for free. The clock started ticking at the end of September and Musk managed to win the bet in November, after installing the energy storage plant.
Verdict: Cannon-Brookes should have probably thought twice before putting money on the line with a man who sent a Tesla car into space.

John McEnroe and Ivan Lendl

ET's dualpane (3)
On the left is John McEnroe and on the right is Ivan Lendl.

The two tennis legends sparred off as coaches to Milos Raonic and Andy Murray in 2016. And their rivalry culminated in a rather odd bet during a Queen’s Club ATP final. No, it wasn’t about who would trump whom, but who would take a bathroom break fi rst. McEnroe won the bet as Lendl went to relieve himself during Murray’s victory speech.
Verdict: McEnroe, who won the “battle of the bladders” as he called it, would have wished he put some money on the wager.

Sourav Ganguly and Shane Warne

ET's dualpane (4)
On the left, Sourav Ganguly and on the right is Shane Warne.

The former Indian and Australian cricketers have been rivals on the cricket field for long, but their bonhomie is stronger. Last year, Ganguly and Warne placed a bet on England’s chances in the 2017 Champion’s Trophy. While Ganguly felt England would go deep in the tournament, Warne felt the team would lose their group match to Australia. The duo bet on it and when England actually did beat Australia, Warne was forced to wear an English jersey.
Verdict: Warne had a tough time hunting for the jersey, which he chronicled in a hilarious Twitter thread.

Danica Patrick and Ricky Stenhouse Jr

Ricky

The former couple and NASCAR’s Sprint Cup Series drivers revealed in 2014 that they had put $10,000 on the line for a golf match, with Stenhouse betting that Patrick would “never ever be able to beat him”. Unfortunately, we won’t know who won the bet as the two ended their five-year long relationship shortly afterwards.
Verdict: Bets and love don’t make a good couple.
