Meg Whitman’s tenure as CEO of Hewlett Packard Enterprise may be coming to an end this month, but she has much to look forward to — especially her daily swimming training — which she took up to channel her anger that came from losing the race for California governor in 2011.

Everyday at 7 am sharp, Whitman does a “boot-camp-ish” routine of breast strokes and freestyle sprints at the outdoor community pool in Menlo Park, California, a business magazine recently wrote. “I needed something to take my mind off losing,” she said .

Such was the impact of losing that Whitman even turned down the job HP offered her the first time. However, once she was on board, Whitman led the company through dark times.

Losing is clearly not an option — a legacy the new CEO-to-be, Antonio Neri knows all too well — “Meg does not like to lose, trust me,” he said.
