Sanjiv Goenka announces scholarship for women after India's WC feat

KOLKATA: Overwhelmed by the success of Indian women's cricket team in the ICC World Cup, ATK principal owner Sanjiv Goenka today announced a special scholarship.

Indian women's team is set to play England in the finals of the ICC World Cup and The RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group said they will start a scholarship for sportswomen in India where a chosen five will be given Rs 5 lakh each.

"For this year, our jury will pick five sportswomen who will be given Rs 5 lakh each," Goenka told reporters.

"Indian women cricket has shown what we are capable of. But what they lack is training, facilities, and resources," he added, conveying best wishes for Indian women's team in tomorrow's final versus England.
