The office desk is undergoing a change. The constant fixture that was the computer screen is disappearing. It’s being replaced by handheld devices like the tablet or the smartphone. The billionaire MD of Oberoi Realty, Vikas Oberoi, subscribes to this new age version of the office desk.

Infact, so complete is his transformation that he’s stopped typing now. "The voice recognition system is so good that I do my entire emails through that," he says, joking about the increased length of his emails. "They are getting longer and longer because I can go on talking." There was a time when he would ask his team to draft emails on his behalf.

He’d give the draft a once over, edit to his satisfaction and send it over to the intended recipient. But now, he has help in the form of Siri, the personal assistant software built into Apple devices. "I dictate and then just do a bit of corrections and you are done," Oberoi said. Right there is an insight into the work style of a boss.
