Opposition questions short duration of Punjab Vidhan Sabha budget session
CHANDIGARH: Punjab Vidhan Sabha leader of opposition Mr. H S Phoolka questioned the short duration of six days for Vidhan Sabha Session. Phoolka said the time is not sufficient when Public matters of utmost importance are up for discussion. New session for Vidhan Sabha has been announced from 14th to 23rd of June, 2017.

Captain Amarinder Singh led Punjab Government will be presenting its maiden budget of the current term on June 20. It remains to be seen whether Congress will live up to its poll manifesto promises.

"It is too short a session especially when matters of public importance like Discussion on Governor's address, Budget Allocation for the financial year, Farmers Suicide, Loan Waiver, Government Jobs, Drugs, poor result of education boards and favoured auctioning of sand mines are to be discussed and debated. Three days have been kept for discussion on Governor's address leaving only two day's time for other matters which is not at all justified, "Mr. Phoolka said.

Mr. Phoolka further said that the Government has failed to fulfill its promises and therefore, does not want discussion on these important matters and key issues and wants to run away from debate on public matters.
