Party's victory marks end of CPI(M) rule in WB: Trinamool

Trinamool youth leader Madan Mitra said that the people had backed Mamata Banerjee because she provided the required leadership to the masses.

KOLKATA: Pleased with the favourable trends being projected of the party in the Lok Sabha elections, the Trinamool Congress today described it as a "victory of people and also beginning of the end of communist rule in West Bengal".

Trinamool youth leader Madan Mitra said that the people had backed Mamata Banerjee because she provided the required leadership to the masses.

Party leader Derek O'Brien reacted to the trends and said, "It is the beginning of the end of the CPI(M) rule in West Bengal. We presented a case to the people. Our party had a transparent policy of industrialisation. We are not against industrialisation. Rather we want industrialisation, but not at the cost of agriculture."

Hundreds of jubilant Trinamool activists assembled outside Banerjee's Kalighat residence to celebrate the party's performance.

They held placards ridiculing Chief Minister Buddhadev Bhattacharjee's 'policies' stating 'Let Buddhadev come and see for himself the might of Mamata'.
