Borge showed 'exemplary presence of mind'

He is believed to have been run over by a Churchgate-bound fast local. Airworks in a statement described Mr Borge as its ���senior-most technician.���

���He was one of the most valued members of our team in Mumbai. He showed exemplary presence of mind in discovering a tampering attempt with a helicopter under maintenance contract with us,��� it added.

Earlier, in a letter dated April 24, the Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (R-ADAG ) had alleged that the discovery of the pebbles and gravel in the helicopter���s filler neck was a clear case of an attempt to murder Anil Ambani by business rivals.

This letter was addressed to key state officials, including the Maharashtra chief minister, the home minister, chief secretary and the commissioner of police.

���The planned manner in which the pebbles and gravel were put in the filler cap at a height of 10 feet in the gear box clearly shows that some persons , possibly business rivals, were attempting to take the life of Mr Ambani. This is clearly an attempt to murder,��� said the letter.

According to the letter, in the event of the helicopter taking off, the pebbles would have entered the gear box, causing a loss of power which could have resulted in its passengers being killed. The helicopter, a Bell 412, was scheduled to fly Mr Ambani and other senior officials of R-ADAG from the city���s suburb, Santa Cruz, to the Dhirubhai Ambani Knowledge City.

The crime branch of the Mumbai police is investigating this case. These investigations are sure to become even more complicated after Tuesday���s developments .
