ICL cricketers, officials to don Savile Row-designed garments

British designer Savile Row will design off-field garments for eight teams of the Indian Cricket League and formal wear for its officials.

MUMBAI: British designer Savile Row will design off-field garments for eight teams of the Indian Cricket League and formal wear for its officials.

"Savile Row, which is foraying into denim wear this August, will test-run with the teams (in the forthcoming matches). The association is based on goodwill without any monetary consideration," Forbes Brand's Executive Head Reetika Mehra Dalal told PTI here.

Forbes Brands of the Shapoorji Pallonji group has the licensee rights for distribution and marketing of Savile Row.

"Kapil Dev has been an excellent customer of Savile Row for many years and when he mentioned this partnership, I immediately said yes," Mehra said.

The garments are being stitched and will be available to the players next week, she said, adding "we have done a basic cut and one format for everyone."

Each one has been offered personalised stitching to give a proper and smart fit, she said.

Apart from casual jeans and T-shirts for players, custom-made formal clothes for match referees, commentators and other officials would also be provided.

Keeping the summer season in mind, there would be linen suits and cotton jackets, mostly in light colours, for the referees and commentators, Mehra said.
