Diplomats can travel to South Africa visa-free

Union Cabinet has approved a proposal for signing of the agreement with S Africa on the abolition of visa requirement for holders of diplomatic and official/service passports and its implementation.

NEW DELHI: In a move which will facilitate visa-free travel for diplomatic and official passport holders to South Africa, the Union Cabinet on Thursday approved a proposal for signing of the agreement with South Africa on the abolition of visa requirement for holders of diplomatic and official/service passports and its implementation.

Diplomatic and official passport holders from both the countries will be allowed visa-free travel while entering or transiting through the territory of the other country.

The Cabinet also gave its approval for proposing to UNESCAP certain amendments to two routes defined in the list of Asian highway routes of the inter-governmental agreement on the Asian highway network for consideration by the working group on the Asian highway.
