LIC eastern zone aims Rs 5,000 cr premium income

LIC eastern zone has fixed a target of Rs 5,000 crore as premium income The corporation had till January 2008, Rs 2,600 crore earned as premium income.

KOLKATA: During the current financial year, LIC eastern zone has fixed a target of Rs 5,000 crore as premium income, an official of the corporation said.

Eastern zonal manager of LIC of India R R Dash told reporters on Monday that till January 2008, Rs 2,600 crore had been already earned as premium income. Of this, 15% would be from health plans.

Dash said that during February and March, premium collections witness a steep rise, Dash said.

LIC also launched Health Insurance Plan on Monday, the first unit-linked medical insurance scheme of the public sector behemoth.

Dash said that the scheme would cover health insurance cover for the entire family (husband, wife and children), hospital cash benefit and major surgical expenses.

The maximum age for availing of the scheme had been fixed at 65 years.

In case of hospitalisation in ICU, the amount payable would be double the eligible daily cash benefit.
