IT players catching up with MNCs in SAP: Forrester

Indian IT players have not only expanded their SAP implementation capabilities but are also making significant investments to match established MNC providers.

DELHI: Indian IT players have not only expanded their SAP implementation capabilities but are also making significant investments to match established MNC providers, according to the Wave report by Forrester Research.

While Indian firms Infosys, Wipro and Satyam figure among the Leaders’ category in the report, TCS stands at its cusp. Forrester has also forecast that demand for SAP services would continue to grow as an increasing number of companies take advantage of an expanding number of SAP solutions.

Another Indian IT player, HCL, stands in the ‘Strong Performers’ category in the report, along with TCS, Cognizant, Intelligroup, Softtek, Neoris, and Fujitsu. Other implementation providers in the Leaders category are Deloitte, Capgemini, BearingPoint and CSC.

“Around the turn of the century, as cost-conscious IT executives looked for lower-cost solutions to their large scale implementation projects, Indian providers began to deliver technical SAP services.

The Indian players introduced the concepts not only of low-cost SAP resources, but also of doing some of the implementation work remotely,” notes the report.
