Punjab to approve RIL agri-projects

Punjab government on Friday said it would give final approval to Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) for setting up agri-projects in the state by next week and would ask the company to launch six hubs before the year-end.

CHANDIGARH: Punjab government on Friday said it would give final approval to Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) for setting up agri-projects in the state by next week and would ask the company to launch six hubs before the year-end.

The agri-projects planned by RIL comprising 52 hubs and 250 sub hubs would be formally approved in the next meeting of Council of Ministers to be held within a week, state Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh said here.

He said that all the modalities had been worked out and RIL would be asked to launch six hubs in the state by December 2006.

With the launch of the new mega-projects sanctioned by the state Government, Punjab would soon emerge as the Industrial Hub of the country, he said.

Replying to another question about Special Economic Zones (SEZs), Singh said that as many as 13 SEZs had already been approved and 14th one namely Reliance One World to be set up by Anil Ambani promoted ADAG had been cleared recently by the Cabinet.
