Sitharaman meets Bengal CM; discusses credit availability, implementation of government schemes
NEW DELHI: Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday huddled with West Bengal chief minister Suvendu Adhikari in the national capital and discussed ways to accelerate the eastern state's economic development.

The meeting, coming just over a month after the BJP stormed to power in West Bengal for the first time, also dwelt on improving the credit availability across various sectors in the state and bolstering the implementation of central government schemes there, the finance ministry said in a statement.

Sitharaman said a renewed saturation drive of flagship schemes--such as Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana and Atal Pension Yojana and PM SVANidhi--will be undertaken to cover all eligible beneficiaries.
