Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee roots for INDIA bloc meet
New Delhi: Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee is rooting for a meeting of INDIA bloc leaders here around June 8, some Opposition campers said. While the proposed agenda of the meeting is ostensibly to firm up the Opposition unity against the BJP, many in the Opposition camps feel Banerjee's real intention may be to rally support against the post-poll attacks on TMC functionaries and cadre in West Bengal, for which she has been blaming the BJP. The mood of the allies is being tested for formally convening the meeting.

While leaders of the allied parties, including the Congress, SP and RJD, are being persuaded by the TMC to convene the INDIA bloc meeting, there is uncertainty regarding the participation of some parties including the DMK, AAP and Left. If Congress and DMK parted company after the Tamil Nadu election, AAP has already distanced itself from the INDIA bloc while many doubt whether the Left would be willing to facilitate poll-routed TMC's bid to gain a collective opposition shield as it battles post-poll backlash.
